Foam Blocks
- DON’T put in curbside recycling
- DO drop them off at a collection location to be recycled
About These Items
Heavy products like appliances, etc. are often protected within shipping cartons using custom-shaped foam blocks made of expanded polystyrene. These foam blocks are not accepted in Pittsburgh’s curbside recycling but they can be recycled locally through special collection locations.
Drop-off for Recycling.
- Appliance Warehouse accepts foam blocks for free at its store at 20 South 6th Street, Pittsburgh PA 15203 (in the rear) from Monday-Saturday 9am – 5pm. They recommend you call them first at 412-381-8800.
- PRC: The Pennsylvania Resource Council accepts foam blocks free at their Hard-to-Recycle collection events.
Do you know another service that accepts these foam blocks? Let us know!
